Student Accomodation

  • SHP (Scott Hobbs Planning), on behalf of Lanark Student Living Ltd, have submitted an application for purpose-built student accommodation, at 200 Mayfield Road, Edinburgh. This application is submitted as an amendment to a previously approved student accommodation development at this site. The proposed development provides the opportunity to improve on that already consented, by providing a wider mix of accommodation and offering 100% cycle parking. The application site benefits from close proximity to Edinburgh University King’s Buildings and local public transport connections. SHP will manage the application process to decision. Architect: 56three.

  • SHP is pleased to announce that planning permission for a mixed-used development comprising a 361-bed purpose-built student accommodation and five commercial units (Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4) at 63 Brown Street, Dundee has been approved by Dundee City Council following Planning Committee on 15th March 2021. The proposed development at the site, which sits within the Blackness Conservation Area, will meet a need for high-quality student housing in Dundee, while also delivering significant commercial floorspace to support the regeneration of this gateway location between the City Centre and Blackness Conservation Area. The decision by the Planning Committee follows extensive dialogue with the Council’s planning officers since the pre-application stage to ensure an appropriate and deliverable proposal will come forward at the site.

  • SHP (Scott Hobbs Planning) are delighted to announce that planning permission, listed building consent and conservation area consent have been granted, for a purpose-built student accommodation & community space development at 11-23 Montrose Terrace, Edinburgh. Although not a statutory requirement for local development, the proposals have been developed following extensive pre-application consultation with the public and City of Edinburgh Council. The Development Management Sub Committee agreed that the use was acceptable in principle in this location, with the site well served by sustainable transport methods; and determined that the development will not result in an excessive student concentration in the local area. The proposal is of an appropriate design, scale, form, massing, and density, and will not be detrimental to the character and historic interest of nearby listed buildings or their setting. The proposal enhances the character and appearance of the conservation area and will have a positive impact on the setting of the World Heritage Site.
