SHP is pleased to announce that planning permission for a mixed-used development comprising a 361-bed purpose-built student accommodation and five commercial units (Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4) at 63 Brown Street, Dundee has been approved by Dundee City Council following Planning Committee on 15th March 2021. The proposed development at the site, which sits within the Blackness Conservation Area, will meet a need for high-quality student housing in Dundee, while also delivering significant commercial floorspace to support the regeneration of this gateway location between the City Centre and Blackness Conservation Area. The decision by the Planning Committee follows extensive dialogue with the Council’s planning officers since the pre-application stage to ensure an appropriate and deliverable proposal will come forward at the site.

SHP is delighted to announce that the decision to refuse planning permission has been overturned by the Local Review Body (‘LRB’) and planning permission has been granted for a proposed extension and alterations to a listed building at Bath Street, Portobello. Prior to this, the corresponding listed building consent application was successfully granted on appeal to the DPEA. As such the LRB concluded there were no reasons why planning permission should be refused. SHP has managed both the listed building consent DPEA appeal and the planning permission local review processes. The proposed extension and alterations will allow the Applicant to significantly improve the listed building whilst creating a high-quality residential environment.

SHP has submitted an application for a mixed-use development at Bridge Street, Nuneaton, a prominent site within the heart of Nuneaton Town Centre. The proposed development seeks the demolition of the existing department store at the site with the re-development of the site to deliver 73 PRS apartments and ground floor commercial and retail space across five separate buildings. The site is dissected by the River Anker which is a key focus of the proposed development with the creation of extensive new public realm and a pedestrian footbridge across the river creating greater permeability and accessibility for all users. The proposal has the opportunity to become an exemplar project and a key contributor to the regeneration of Nuneaton Town Centre, a key aim for the Council. SHP will continue to manage the application process to a decision.
